Parcourse formed in 2001 when vocalist/guitarist David Blatty and bassist/vocalist Andrei Pasternak both formerly of the band PETE joined forces with drummer Matthew Ayotte. The newest addition of guitarist Tom Jaye at the beginning of 2006, completed the Parcourse sound.

Over the course of the last five years, PARCOURSE has firmly established itself in the California music scene, bringing their memorable, hook-laden brand of guitar-based pop to such venues as The Bottom of the Hill, The Edinburgh Castle, Hotel Utah, and the Make Out Room. These consistently exciting shows, backed by their 2003 debut 5 song E.P. has won them both critical success and regular airplay on such stations as Live 105 and KUSF (SF), KALX (Berkeley), and KXLU and KROQ (LA), and has helped to swell an already significant following.

PARCOURSE’s fine-tuned sound, that spans the spectrum of moods and melodies from sweet, sulky lows, to hard, screaming highs, hints at a wide range of influences, from the Beach Boys and Black Sabbath, to My Bloody Valentine and Pinback. Finally, a note about the name.
First off it has nothing to do with golf. A Parcourse is a brand-name of exercise circuit that follows a path in a park. Popular in the ’70s and ’80s, the first Parcourse in the U.S. was built in San Francisco in 1973. It is O.K. to misunderstand the name as Park-Horse as we are also horse racing fans.
